WordPress care

WordPress maintenance for businesses
that would rather not deal with it.

Plugins either update themselves or never update at all, the theme drags in three icon sets, camera photos sit there uncompressed, and the backup exists mainly in the form of good intentions. I take that off you: updates run on a copy first, daily off-server backups, one report a month. You stop thinking about it - that is the whole service in one sentence.

01Who it is for

Who WordPress care is for and when a new site is the better answer.

I would rather lose an enquiry than take a project that goes badly for both of us. Honestly, then: when it is worth getting in touch, and when you will do better elsewhere - in which case I usually point you there.

Get in touch if

  • You have a WordPress site that works but drags, and you do not know why
  • Somebody built it for you and disappeared, and now you are afraid to click anything
  • You have seen red update notices in the admin panel for months
  • You want to be certain a backup exists and that the site can actually be restored from it

I am not the right choice if

  • The site is old enough that a new one is cheaper - I will tell you that after the audit, before you sign up for anything
  • You need a full-time developer for a large service - that is a different scale from mine
  • You are looking for someone to write content and run a blog - I handle the technical side
  • Your site runs on something other than WordPress - write anyway, I will check whether I can help at all
02What you get

What WordPress care covers. Point by point.

  • 01

Updates you do not have to watch

Core, theme and plugins, updated on a copy first and only then on the live site. If something breaks, I roll back to the pre-update state before you notice.

  • 02

    A backup that actually works

Daily, kept off the site's own server and - more importantly - tested by restoring it. A backup nobody has ever restored is a file, not a safeguard.

  • 03

    Uptime monitoring

I check every five minutes that the site responds. If it goes down, I find out, not your customer who happened to be sending an enquiry.

  • 04

    Slimming down and speeding up

Three things usually do it: compressing images, removing plugins that duplicate each other, and cutting the font load. That typically sheds half the page weight in a few hours.

  • 05

Security, and cleanup after a break-in

Hardened logins, brute-force blocking, certificates. And if you have already been hacked - cleaning, restoring, and closing the hole they came through.

  • 06

A report you can actually read

One page a month: what I updated, how long the site was unavailable, how the speed changed. No charts nobody looks at.

03What it costs

WordPress care - monthly pricing. The prices are here, not in an e-mail.

The ranges are real and every project I have done so far fits inside them. We agree the exact figure before we start and it does not move after that - nothing gets added along the way.

04Questions

WordPress administration - questions. The ones I get asked most.

01Is WordPress a bad choice? Everyone says it is slow.

It is not bad, it is forgiving - it lets you pile on twenty plugins and a theme loading three icon sets and still limps along. A 7.4 s median across 4,134 measured WordPress sites is not the engine's fault, it is what accumulated on top. A well-maintained WordPress drops under two seconds with no magic involved.

02I have no idea who built my site and no access to it.

Common, and usually fixable. Admin access is recovered through the hosting or the database, and if you do not have the hosting either - through the domain owner, which most often turns out to be you anyway. I help put that back together; sometimes it takes a week of correspondence, but it almost always ends with the site recovered.

03What happens if I cancel the care plan?

Nothing. There is no fixed-term contract and no notice period - you say the word and you stop paying from the next month. The site stays with you, you keep every credential the whole time, and I hand over the backups. Care should sustain itself by being useful, not by being hard to leave.

04My site is from 2016. Repair it or build new?

I will tell you after the audit, and I will tell you honestly even when the answer is less profitable for me. The line runs roughly where the repair cost passes half the price of a new site - or where the theme is no longer maintained and every WordPress update risks breaking the layout. At that point repairing is throwing money away.

05My site has been hacked. Can you get to it in time?

Write or call straight away. The first thing I do is preserve a copy of the current state, then clean and restore, and finally find how they got in - because without that they are back within a week. For a typical break-in through an outdated plugin that is one or two days of work.

Your question is not here?

Ask it directly - I answer within two working hours, in plain words, without obligation.
